About College Library
The college has a fully automated central library, the major learning resource of the institution, with the following facilities:
- A spacious common reading room with 70 chairs and 19 round tables Separate Reading Space for staff members
- Network Resource Centre (NRC) with 14 Computers
- Stack Room – Entry is allowed to students on request
- Cabin for the Librarian
- A room, next to the Cabin of the Librarian, for routine check up and repair of damaged books.
- Photocopier (that can also be used as a computer printer) is kept very close to the computers in the NRC.
- Journals/Magazines are arranged on a Display Board. The back volumes are arranged on the space provided behind the Display Board
- A cubicle/space for book distribution at the entrance of the Library
- The Library is automated with KOHA Software
- The books are housed in well maintained stacks.
- Internet facility is provided to all students and faculty in the library, free of cost.

Library Advisory Committee
Advisory Committee consists of Head of the institution, Librarian, Heads of departments and
Representative from students. This committee is giving in the recommendation of matters regarding the
purchase of books, equipment, developments in infrastructure, maintenance.

Facilities
- Collection
The College Library has a collection of 16512 books. It subscribes to journals, magazines and
newspapers. Besides, the library provides access to a number of online resources including e books,
journals and magazines.
- Arrangement
The books are classified and arranged in the stack according to the Dewey Decimal Classification System
21 st edition; a local variation of the same is used for classifying literature collection in Indian languages.
The library follows an open access system; any user can enter the stack and browse through the
collection.
- Library Automation
The Library is automated using the open source Integrated Library Management Software Koha version
23.05.04. All books and member identity cards are barcoded. Barcode technology is used mainly for
issue and return of books.
- Digital Library
The Digital Library is created using DSpace. Previous Years’ University Question Papers, College
Magazines, E Books, PhD theses, publications of the faculty etc. can be accessed using this facility.
- OPAC
Two systems are provided in the library for the users to search books and other documents using the
online catalogue. Bibliographic details are available in English, Hindi and Malayalam Languages. Links to
important online resources such as N-List of INFLIBNET, National Digital Library of India, Open Access
Journals and books, Digital Repositories etc. also are provided along with the OPAC.
- Access to E-Magazines
The College subscribes to Magzter, which provides access to 7500+ online magazines, journals,
Newspapers, e books etc. in many languages including English, Hindi and Malayalam. An e-reading room
has been arranged in the library with 15 tablets for using this facility.
- Subscription to N-List
All teachers and students have N-List account. Special training is given to all during the library
orientation programme for effectively using the N-List e resources.
Barcode enabled Gate Register
Barcode is used to record the login details of the users. Barcodes are placed on the Identity tags of all
teachers and students. Their log in details is automatically recorded while they enter the library.
- Internet and Wifi
The Library has an independent internet connection with 100 mbps. Wi-Fi facility is given in the reading
room and discussion room.
Identity Card Printing
The library has undertaken the responsibility of printing the Barcode enabled College Identity cards for
the staff and students. An identity card printer is available in the library for this purpose.
Library Rules
- The staff and students of the college are entitled to the use of the library.
- The library will be open from 9.00 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. on all working days and from 9.30 a.m. to
1.00 p.m. on Saturdays.
- Reference books, periodicals and newspapers will not be issued outside. Before consulting
reference books the user should sign a register after making necessary entries in it.
- An atmosphere of perfect silence and studious seriousness should prevail in the library in the
library throughout the working hours.
- Readers have to keep all their belongings at the entrance of the reading room including the
issued or other text books. If anyone needs to keep books (printed) with them, please report it
at the Counter.
- Magazines and papers should not be misplaced.
- The users must not disfigure or damage by writing on or mishandling any books, magazines,
manuscripts and maps belonging to the library.
- The Students are requested not to replace the books in these stacks. Please leave them on the
tables placed in the stacks. The library assistants will take care of the replacing.
- No tracing or mechanical reproduction shall be made without prior permission of the librarian.
- The readers will be responsible for any damage done to the books or other property belonging
to the library. They are required to replace such books or property or pay the price as decided
by the authorities. If one of the books in a set is damaged, the whole set will have to be
replaced.
- The students may return the books on all working days except during the lunch hour (1 to 2
p.m.).
- Before leaving the counter, the reader should satisfy himself/ herself as to whether the book
lent to him/her is in good condition. If it is not, he/she should immediately bring the matter to
the librarian's notice. Otherwise he/she is liable to be held responsible for the replacement of
the book.
- The loan period is usually 14 days. However the librarian can recall any book at any time from a
reader.
- A book returned after the due date will entail a fine of ₹1 per day.
- Members are not allowed to sublet the books of the library.
- All the books should be returned to the library before March 31 st of each academic year.
However the final year students should return the books before final year examinations.
- Books issued for the holidays should be returned within 2 days after reopening.
- The Staff should return all the books at the close of the academic year.
- 19. The students are requested to take special care to keep the library and surroundings neat and
clean. Eatables are avoided in the library.
