Employment Training Center

In order to provide employment opportunities to the tribal women in the neighbourhood, the college set up an Employment Training Centre at Ondayangady in 2006. The Centre was shifted to Cheloor near Kartikulam in 2008. Now the centre functions at Appappara tribal village. Sewing machines were given to tribal women under the auspices of the Adoration Sisters at Appappara near Thirunelli as part of the Bishop George Njaralakkat Endowment Scheme. The volunteers of the NSS frequent the Centre and assist the program. The activities are coordinated by Ms Tancy VS and Sr Elizebath M J.

Mop Making Unit

As part of the "Vocational Training for Tribal Women" initiative of Mary Mata Arts and Science College as an extension activity, the "Mop Making" training programme was Inagurated and conducted at Appappa Sneha Jwala Social Work Centre on 24 Agugust 2022. The programme was inaugurated by the college Manager Mr. Paul Mundolical. College Principal Dr. Maria Martin Joseph presided over the meeting and College Associate Manager Fr. Sibichan Chelakappalli delivered the keynote address. Appapara Sneha Jwala Social Work Incharge Sr. Lisbel SABS offered her best wishes. Around 28 people are participating in the sewing training which is being conducted as part of the social commitment of the college. Dr. Akhila B left, and Sr. Elizabeth M J led the programme. On October 18, 2022, the Mop Sale campaign was inaugurated. This special initiative showcased the exceptional craftsmanship of tribal women from the Employment Training Center, who diligently crafted these exquisite mops. With the invaluable assistance of the dedicated volunteers from NSS Units 33 and 46, the mops swiftly found eager buyers among the college's staff and enthusiastic students.
