A week-long film workshop was organized for the final year students of B A Functional English in November 1999 in order to impart hands-on experience in pre-production, production and post-production of film making. Noted Malayalam film director Mr. Prakash Kolery was the chief resource person. His associates also assisted the students. A short campus film was scripted and produced by the students. A two-day film workshop was organized for the students on the basics of script writing and film production in December 2000. Again, Mr. Parakash Kolery took classes and guided the students in scripting and shooting a short film. Noted writer and documentary producer Mr. O K Johny had an interface with the second and third year students of BA Functional English on script writing for documentary films.
The Dept. of Journalism along with media club of the college and the Public Relations Department, Kalpetta organised a documentary film festival for the students of the college.
A two-day media seminar on Media and Democracy, jointly organised by the Depts. of Journalism & English; Press Forum, Mananthavady; and Malanad Communications Ltd., was held in the college auditorium on January 29 & 30, 2004. Mr. M. P. Virendrakumar, Managing Director of Mathrubhumi daily, inaugurated the seminar. Distinguished media persons presented papers in the seminar and interacted with the students. Students bring out regular laboratory newspapers in order to get hands-on experience in the reporting, editing and making of newspapers.
